Legal Assistant/Paralegal

We are seeking a highly organized Legal Assistant to provide support to multiple attorneys in a busy law office. This role focuses on litigation and transactional tasks, with an emphasis on billing (no billable hour requirement). Ideal candidates will have prior experience as a paralegal or hold a paralegal certification and possess strong, hands‑on e‑filing experience in both state and federal courts.
Key Responsibilities

Litigation Support

Initiate and file new cases (draft summons, civil case cover sheet, complaint, etc.)
Perform heavy electronic filing in California state courts and federal courts (including CM/ECF), ensuring compliance with local rules, formatting, and filing deadlines
Coordinate service of process with third-party vendors
Draft and file case management statements with proof of service
Prepare and serve discovery requests; finalize responses and verifications
Assist with motions for summary judgment (MSJs): draft shells, review, finalize, file, and serve
Prepare requests for service via publication, including contacting publication companies and filing proofs
Draft and file requests for entry of default judgment and court judgment
Prepare writs, lis pendens, and coordinate service
Draft and file requests and orders for remote appearances
Submit pleadings for calendaring and maintain case files
Transactional Support

Open new client matters and prepare engagement agreements
Send weekly calendar emails to keep attorneys on track with deadlines
Monitor non-litigation deadlines and coordinate with calendar team
Proofread leases, purchase/sale agreements, and related documents
Process incoming mail for attorneys
Maintain case status charts for clients with multiple matters
Input billing time for attorneys
Review and finalize letters to opposing parties; send and serve correspondence
Prepare documents for e‑signatures
Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience as a paralegal or paralegal certification
Demonstrated, heavy experience with e‑filing in both state and federal courts (including CM/ECF and state e‑filing portals)
Proficiency in:
iManage (document management)
Compulaw (case management)
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
