Here’s What You’ll Be Doing
Review and process complex air permit applications, ensuring quality and timely completion. Conduct technical reviews, define contaminant sources, apply regulations, and prepare permit documents and public notices.
Provide quality customer service to applicants, agency staff, other state/federal agencies, elected officials, stakeholders, and the public concerning the applicability of federal and state requirements for the permitting process and the technical completeness of projects.
Provide highly technical support for the team, section and agency on the application of policies and procedures related to the air permitting program.
Key Qualifications
Experience communicating, written and verbally, with senior leadership
Experience preparing and conducting presentations and training.
Qualifications
Required Education & Experience
Texas Professional Engineer's license plus five years of full-time engineering experience beyond licensure. Qualifying work experience includes obtaining post licensure as an engineering graduate student or teacher.
Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.
This position is also available as a lateral transfer opportunity (LTO) to TCEQ employees within the Engineer VI state classification. The selected candidate must meet the minimum qualifications of the corresponding job in the Engineer VI series.

Work Schedule
Standard business hours are M‑F, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Austin Headquarters Office.
