Your Future Team
As part of TCEQ Compliance and Enforcement, you would help ensure that those we regulate comply with the state’s environmental laws.

This position is a member of our Central Texas Division.

Here’s What You’ll Be Doing
Develop, direct, and evaluate special projects and initiatives for the Central Texas Area and the Office of Compliance and Enforcement (OCE). Independently coordinate with other divisions, programs, and offices within the Agency as needed and appropriate to ensure success of projects.

Assist the Area Director with the day-to-day functioning of the Central Texas Area as requested. Coordinate oversight of Area objectives such as work planning and tracking, budget, and legislative and media responses. Assign work within the Area to meet objectives.

Develop reports, compile data, and provide technical guidance and direction on issues relevant to the Central Texas Area and OCE. Identify risks and devise strategies to mitigate and avoid them.

Communicate Area and OCE issues and project activity with private sector partners, other state agencies, and governmental jurisdictions, including participating in legislative briefings and committee meetings.

Key Qualifications

Experience working with state and federal air regulations, water, and waste.

Experience working with Divisions/Regions within TCEQ’s Office of Compliance and Enforcement and other TCEQ Offices/Divisions.

Experience in using Excel, Business Objects Enterprise Central Registry and/or CCEDS.

Experience in planning, developing, coordinating, managing, and/or implementing major agency program(s) or special projects.

Required Education & Experience
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university plus five years of full-time experience managing, coordinating, overseeing, and/or conducting project management in relevant areas of project assignment. One year of additional experience may substitute for each year (30 semester hours) of the required education.

A graduate degree in public administration, business administration, environmental resource management, planning, or an area relevant to the position, from an accredited college or university may substitute for up to two years of the required experience.

Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

Work Schedule

Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Central Texas Area Division.
