DESCRIPTION
We are searching for a Mechanical Engineer to join our growing operation in New Iberia, LA. The role supports mechanical engineering for sales and project management teams, provides technical guidance in a selling environment, interfaces daily with customers and staff to ensure project schedules and performance objectives are met safely and on schedule, and is responsible for designing and evaluating electrical systems associated with the division’s portfolio of products.
YOUR CONTRIBUTION
Work with a team to incorporate customer specifications and prepare detailed design packages and shop fabrication drawings for equipment skids, enclosures, and other structures to comply with Marine, Industrial and Petroleum industry standards.
Complete assigned mechanical and structural designs and 3‑D models in Inventor and AutoCAD in a timely manner to support manufacturing activities, conforming to standards and meeting customer requirements.
Assist in developing the bill of materials for budgets, estimating labor and material costs for projects related to division sales activities.
Inspect completed projects to ensure conformance to design, equipment specifications and to compliance with operational and safety standards, and take final measurements to develop as‑built drawings.
Provide internal and external communication on technical issues.
Conduct field surveys, study graphs, diagrams and other engineering data to identify and correct designs.
Investigate design issues, determine the nature and extent of the problem, recommend remedial measures, and correct and revise designs.
Embrace and support quality management system initiatives to achieve a continuous improvement environment.
Follow and enforce all safety rules and procedures; identify and report all safety issues.
Complete training requirements identified by Louisiana Cat to earn and maintain job‑specific training certifications as required.
MOST IMPORTANT QUALIFICATIONS
BS or higher degree in mechanical engineering or related field from an accredited university.
Experience with AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor 3‑D.
Proficiency in MS Word and Excel.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Excellent time‑management skills with the ability to be flexible in handling changing schedules and priorities.
5–8 years of relevant experience, including detailed design and fabrication of skid equipment packages and structural design preferred.
FEA and CFD experience preferred.
