Job Summary
We are currently seeking a Concrete Skilled Laborer to join our Wagman Heavy Civil, Inc. team at our Newark, DE project. Reporting to the direct supervisor, Laborers assist crews on site to complete construction related tasks, such as assisting pipe lay crew, carrying and setting up materials (shovels, rigging, signaling), maintaining traffic, chipping concrete, helping pour concrete and other site specific tasks. This position is safety sensitive and requires work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction. The position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.

Responsibilities

Assist pipe laying and other crews with carrying and setting up materials such as shovels, rigging, signaling, traffic maintenance, chipping concrete, and helping pour concrete.

Carry, load, unload, and stack materials.

Lay out materials and assist experienced crew members.

Dig with pick and shovel.

Shovel, rake, spread and vibrate concrete into place.

Climb embankments and ladders to carry material to various work sites on the project as needed.

Jackhammer and saw cut concrete, including chipping concrete.

Clean up project site of debris.

Physical Requirements

Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds from ground level to waist level and 30 pounds to above shoulder level throughout the work shift; able to work at heights up to 150 feet.

Continuous standing and walking required throughout a scheduled work shift.

Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands.

Must be able to climb ladders and work at heights up to 150 feet.

Must be able to bend, squat, kneel and crawl.

Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot and humid weather.

Required to have acceptable corrected vision and hearing.

Required to have the ability to reach, lift and perform work above shoulder height, and to work on uneven surfaces and in confined spaces.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED; may be replaced with relevant work experience.

Reliable transportation.

1+ year experience in highway or bridge construction preferred.

Familiarity with paving, concrete, highway, and bridge construction and other highway construction scopes.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented.
