Job Overview
We are currently seeking Concrete Skilled Laborers to join our Wagman Heavy Civil, Inc. team at our Newark, DE project. Reporting to the direct supervisor, Laborers are responsible for assisting the crews on site to complete construction related tasks. Tasks on this site would include assisting pipe laying crew and other crews with carrying and set up of materials such as shovels, rigging, signaling, maintenance of traffic, chipping concrete, helping pour concrete and other site specific tasks. This position works along with the entire Project Team to support the completion of assigned construction projects and ensures quality work is executed in a timely fashion. This is a safety sensitive position requiring work on construction sites with various safety hazards inherent in heavy construction.

This position is subject to drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor.

Qualifications

HS Diploma or GED; can be replaced with relevant work experience

Reliable transportation

Experience in Heavy Highway and/or bridge construction preferred

Familiar with paving, concrete, highway and/or bridge construction and all other highway construction scopes

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Strong prioritization and organizational skills; detail-oriented

Essential Functions

Carry, load, unload and stack materials

Lay out materials and assist experienced crew members

Dig with pick and shovel

Shovel, rake, spread and vibrate concrete into place

Climb embankments and ladders to carry material to various work sites on project as needed

Jackhammer and saw cut concrete, chipping concrete

Clean up project site of debris

Physical Requirements of the Essential Functions

Must be able to lift up to 60 pounds from ground level to waist level and 30 pounds to above shoulder level throughout work shift. Must be able to work at heights up to 150 feet

Continuous standing and walking required throughout a scheduled work shift

Must be able to perform simple grasping and fine manipulation tasks with both hands

Must be able to climb ladders

Must be able to work at heights up to 150 feet

Must be able to bend, squat, kneel and crawl

Must be able to work outdoors in wet, muddy, cold, hot and humid weather

Required to have acceptable corrected vision (in both eyes) and acceptable corrected hearing

Required to have the ability to reach, lift and perform work above shoulder height - and the ability to work on uneven surfaces and in confined spaces
