DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Park Maintenance Worker, you will conduct a wide‑range of indoor and outdoor maintenance and construction activities throughout Caledonia State Park.

Utilize tools of carpentry, masonry, plumbing, painting, and other building trades to complete repairs to structures and facilities.

Replace or install varied equipment and amenities.

Safely operate park vehicles and equipment, and assist with the overall care, maintenance, and upkeep of the equipment used.

Tend to grounds maintenance to include mowing, weeding, planting, trash removal, restroom maintenance, debris management, maintaining signage throughout the park, and cleaning drains and culverts.

Be responsible for the general housekeeping and maintenance of park facilities, including cleaning and stocking restrooms, offices, and other buildings.

Use courteous communication skills to assist park visitors by providing general information in a friendly and helpful manner.

Work Schedule and Additional Information

This is a seasonal, full‑time position with no healthcare benefits. There is not an option to buy into health care benefits. The season runs from approximately March 2026 until November 2026 at which time the employee will be placed on leave without pay. The employee will automatically be returned to employment approximately in March 2027.

Work schedule will vary. Work will be scheduled 5 days/37.5 hours per week and will include a 30‑minute lunch.

Work may be scheduled on weekends, holidays, and all shifts as needed.

Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.

QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year of experience in laboring work including the use of tools and equipment used in maintenance or construction; or

An equivalent combination of experience and training.

Other Requirements:

You must meet the PA residency requirement.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

Legal Requirements:

A conditional offer of employment will require submission of criminal history reports.

Pennsylvania law (51 Pa. C.S. § 7103) provides employment preference for qualified veterans for appointment to many state and local government jobs.
