
Payroll - Finance Associate

We are seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Finance Associate Payroll to support our payroll and benefits administration processes. In this role, you will help ensure accurate payroll processing, maintain payroll-related records, assist with reconciliations and filings, and collaborate with HR on benefit-related tasks. The ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work efficiently in a confidential and fast-moving environment.
Summary
The Finance Associate Payroll is responsible for supporting all functions related to payroll and employee benefits administration ensuring accuracy and compliance. This role includes processing payroll, all payroll-related Accounts Payable (AP), benefits payments, employee reimbursements, journal entries, and account reconciliations. Due to the sensitive nature of payroll, the position requires strict confidentiality and a high level of accuracy in all accounting and payroll activities. This position has some cross-over work with the Human Resources Department in regards to administration and coordination of employee benefits as they related to Finance functions. The Finance Associate Payroll requires the ability to interact professionally with leadership while also effectively communicating with employees regarding payroll and benefits. The Finance Associate Payroll supports internal and external audits and performs reconciliations relating to assigned tasks, including but not limited to: 401k, workers compensation, MN Paid Family Medical Leave (MN PFML), State Unemployment Tax (SUTA), etc.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
All Payroll related tasks
Journal entries/reconciliations related to payroll and benefits
Benefits administration where applicable with in the role
Assist with applicable filings quarterly and annually
Provide expense information for planning and budgeting
Year-end and audit work relating to assigned duties
Assist in payroll software implementation
Payable work where applicable
Other tasks as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum of an Associate's Degree or 3 years of demonstrated experience in payroll, accounting, and/or finance is required
Preferred to have at least 5 years of experience in payroll
Preferred for this individual to have complex payroll experience (shift differentials, blended overtime rates, etc.)
Preferred experience in payroll software implementation and experience with Dynamics and Greenshades but not required
Be able to prioritize tasks and promote a sense of urgency when needed
Advanced Excel & Word skills preferred
Must be able to complete tasks with 100% accuracy
Must work well in a changing environment, always looking for ways to improve processes to ensure tasks are handled effectively and efficiently
Must have strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Maintain professional/timely verbal and written communication with internal and external partners
Hours
This role is designated for day shift, Monday through Friday.

While performing duties, this employee is required to talk, hear, sit, stand, walk, and use fingers to touch, handle, feel, and reach with hands and arms. This individual must be able to read, comprehend and write. This individual need close vision and the ability to adjust focus. This individual must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Work Environment
The noise level in this environment is quiet to moderate. This individual has little to no exposure to blood, body fluids, or caustic substances. This position is designated as hybrid.
