Job Summary
Counsels and advises students and parents on the various financial aid programs. Assists with the administration of federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs. Evaluates applications to determine eligibility and performs data collection and record‑keeping duties.
Responsibilities
Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid.
Review student eligibility and ensure files are accurate and completed on time.
Manage federal and state processes, including award computation, application download, tracking, CFlags, private loans, consortium agreements, HOPE & Zell Miller scholarships, HERO Scholarship, Federal Work‑Study, Return to Title IV, and private scholarships.
Respond to student inquiries via front desk, ticket system, or email; contact outside entities to resolve data conflicts.
Research issues related to federal and state systems (CPS, EDE, NSLDS, COD, Surfer).
Review and analyze exception reports and complete student files.
Audit completed work for accuracy and compliance; recommend workflow and productivity improvements.
Participate in annual trainings and professional development.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited institution.
Two (2) years of relevant experience in financial aid.
Preferred Qualifications
National Association of Student Aid Administrators (NASFAA) credentials.
Advanced degree in a related field.
Previous experience in a financial aid office at an institution of higher education.
Working knowledge of Banner (Ellucian) systems.
Abilities & Skills
Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Excellent problem‑solving, organization, and time‑management skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Banner Financial Aid Module.
Knowledge of state program rules, Title IV regulations, and FERPA compliance.
