Role We are seeking a Design Engineer 2 to join our Security and Electronic Systems (SES) business unit. As part of the SES Strategic Business Unit you will be part of a team that designs, engineers, integrates, operates and maintains electronic security services including intrusion detection, access control, biometric authentication, video surveillance, audiovisual, IT systems, perimeter defense and command and control systems for federal, local and commercial customers across high-growth markets.

Responsibilities
Manages system requirements and derived requirements to ensure the delivery of security systems that are compliant with commercial client and data center construction standards.

Responsible for all technical submittals (Product Data, O&M, Warranty) for delivering security projects.

Work with a team of engineers, project managers, and field technicians on rectifying issues and documenting solutions.

Support project lifecycle of a large-scale construction project; willing to assist at a construction site with the field technicians.

Manage multiple project designs concurrently and ensure they meet customer standards.

Participate in coordination calls with peer engineers, lead engineer, designated project manager, and field superintendent to ensure proper communication and delivery.

Attend coordination calls with contractors/trade groups to coordinate dependencies, page-turn reviews, and provide updates regarding security drawings and installation.

Track revisions, RFIs, submittals, and BOM throughout the project lifecycle.

Lead Design Review sessions with team members (Bluebeam Sessions).

Develop and improve design standards and templates (AutoCAD and/or Revit).

Lead complex projects, mentor and oversee project execution through design excellence processes to ensure high delivery quality.

Lead Pre-Installation Testing & Checkout of security equipment for various projects; coordinate schedule, checklist, and shipment due dates. Review RFP documentation, Statement of Work, and Client Specifications for new bids.

Develop Bill of Materials (BOM) and forecast engineering time for new bids.

Provide in-person site surveys and field troubleshooting/commissioning support.

Working knowledge and/or certification with electronic security systems (e.g., CCURE/Software House, Genetec, Lenel, Milestone, HID, Axis) and related applications.

Candidates should have in-depth knowledge of how these systems operate and be familiar with potential flaws and improvements.

Qualifications Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Systems Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical or related Engineering discipline or Information Technology.

Master’s Degree in Engineering with 0+ years of experience OR Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with 2+ years of experience.

Strong engineering and administration experience with core platforms and services including:

Access Control Systems such as CCURE 9000 or Lenel OnGuard.

Video Management Systems such as Milestone XProtect or Genetec.

Perimeter Intrusion Detection Systems such as Senstar and Southwest Microwave.

Other Electronic Security Systems such as Zenitel, Gatekeeper, HID, CertiPath, or D3.

Hypervisors such as everRun, VMware ESXi and vSphere.

Microsoft Windows Server 2016-2025 Deployment and Administration.

Microsoft Windows 11 Deployment and Administration.

Microsoft Windows Server features such as DNS, DFS, DHCP and KMS.

Active Directory and Group Policy management.

Data center networking fundamentals; software-defined data center networks a plus.

Hyperconverged storage fundamentals.

Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining highly secure and reliable solutions that meet cybersecurity and Information Assurance requirements.

Experience performing security scans, applying security configurations (e.g., DISA STIG/SRGs).

Experience with Data Center Automation and Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), API management, scripting languages (PowerShell, Python, JSON, Bash).

Strong written and verbal communication skills with experience communicating to executive leadership.

Demonstrated ability to work with multidisciplinary teams and manage time to meet deadlines and quality objectives.

Strong MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Visio skills are a plus.

Desired Qualifications and Experience
Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining SQL Database Infrastructure (e.g., Microsoft SQL Server).

Experience engineering and implementing platforms and services in a software-defined network environment.

Experience with Enterprise Deployment Solutions (e.g., SCCM/MECM, Manage Engine, PDQ).

Vendor certifications for the platforms and services listed.
