Position Summary...The Manager, Learning & Development, Learning Experience Designer (LXD) serves as a strategic designer and creator of engaging, data‑driven learning experiences that elevate performance across Walmart Connect. This role combines strategic learning architecture with hands‑on content development to create meaningful, measurable learning that builds capabilities and drives business results. Reporting to a Sr. Manager of Learning & Development, the LXD will design holistic learner journeys across formats, Instructor‑Led Training (ILT), Virtual ILT (vILT), eLearning, microlearning, and social learning, while also producing visually compelling, emotionally resonant learning assets. This individual will partner with stakeholders to analyze skill gaps, architect solutions, and deliver learning experiences that connect learning outcomes to business impact.
What You'll Do
Learning Strategy & Experience Design
Conduct thorough needs analyses with business and functional stakeholders to identify skill gaps, performance barriers, and business opportunities.
Map identified gaps to learning deliverables using performance consulting techniques and create measurable solutions that align with Walmart Connect’s strategic objectives.
Design end‑to‑end learner journeys that combine formal, informal, and social learning experiences to foster engagement, retention, and on‑the‑job application.
Partner with stakeholders to define learning objectives, success metrics, and KPIs tied to organizational performance outcomes.
Content Development & Learning Asset Creation
Develop learning content and deliverables across modalities, including ILT, vILT, eLearning, blended learning, microlearning, and performance support resources.
Design visually rich, emotionally engaging learning experiences that resonate with diverse audiences through storytelling, graphic design, and multimedia techniques.
Utilize authoring and creative tools (e.g., Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe Captivate, Camtasia, Vyond, Adobe Creative Suite, PowerPoint) to produce world‑class learning assets.
Incorporate interactive elements (branching scenarios, simulations, gamified elements, peer learning activities) to reinforce engagement and skill mastery.
Apply UX and visual design principles to learning content to ensure usability, accessibility, and aesthetic appeal.
Learning Architecture & Measurement
Build modular, scalable curriculum frameworks (101/201/301) aligned with competency models and business KPIs.
Partner with the Learning Platforms team to ensure content tagging, metadata compliance, and LMS/LXP integration for optimal learner discoverability.
Define and implement measurement strategies (Kirkpatrick Levels 1–4, ROI frameworks) to track learning adoption, knowledge transfer, and business impact.
Leverage analytics and feedback to iterate on course design and enhance performance outcomes.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Partnership
Act as a learning consultant to business partners, Sales, Product, HR, and Partner Management teams to align learning experiences with organizational goals.
Collaborate cross‑functionally to ensure that content reflects current business priorities, product updates, and enterprise messaging.
Manage relationships with vendors, contractors, and SMEs to maintain consistency, quality, and scalability of deliverables.
Innovation & Continuous Improvement
Research and apply emerging learning trends and technologies (AI‑driven learning, adaptive pathways, gamification, AR/VR, etc.) to innovate TED’s learning offerings.
Continuously improve content design and user experience through testing, learner feedback, and engagement analytics.
Stay current on design, media, and learning science trends to elevate the emotional and cognitive impact of Walmart Connect learning experiences.
What You’ll Bring
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources, Communications, Education, or related field and 2 years’ experience in adult learning, training content development, or related area OR 4 years’ experience in adult learning, training content development, or related area.
5–7+ years in Learning Experience Design, Instructional Design, or L&D program development.
Proven expertise designing and developing content across multiple modalities (ILT, vILT, eLearning, microlearning, and social learning).
Proficiency in learning development tools: Articulate Storyline/Rise, Adobe Captivate, Vyond, Camtasia, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere), and MS PowerPoint.
Strong background in graphic design and multimedia storytelling, with the ability to evoke emotion and engagement through visual design.
Demonstrated ability to conduct training needs analyses and translate business challenges into actionable learning deliverables.
Solid understanding of adult learning theory, UX, cognitive science, and behavioral psychology as applied to learning.
Experience developing competency‑based curricula and tying learning outcomes to measurable business results.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and project management skills.
Master’s degree in Instructional Design, Educational Technology, Communications, or related field preferred.
Certifications in L&D, instructional design, or learning analytics (ATD, CPTD, Kirkpatrick) are a plus.
