Interning at Riley Children's Foundation offers a first‑hand glimpse of how the Foundation ensures that children have access to exceptional healthcare by funding pediatric research, education and care. We at Riley Children's Foundation raise funds statewide and steward assets for the kids.
Support Community Philanthropy events with fundraising totals under $10,000, under the guidance of the Community Fundraising Programs team
Assist event organizers, families, and community partners with basic fundraising questions and resources
Help ensure fundraising activities follow Riley Children’s Foundation policies and procedures
Support in‑event fundraising activities as appropriate (e.g., silent auctions, donation collection, check‑in support)
Build and maintain online donation and peer‑to‑peer fundraising pages using Riley Children’s Foundation platforms (e.g., GoFundMePro)
Serve as a first point of support for DIY fundraisers needing assistance with setup, edits, or troubleshooting
Coordinate with Communications team to promote DIY pages on regular cadence (i.e. Pediatric Cancer Awareness Month and promotion of Cancer Center DIY page)
Monitor online fundraising activity and flag issues or opportunities for the Program Officer
Assist with basic content updates and ensure pages align with Riley branding and messaging
3. Administration & Reporting
Enter and update activity reports, contact notes, and event information in NPSP accurately and in a timely manner
Pull GoFundMePro and other fundraising reports as requested to support tracking and reconciliation
Assist with maintaining organized records for community fundraising events and online campaigns
Support gift tracking and acknowledgment processes as needed
4. Riley Children’s Foundation Representative
Represent Riley Children’s Foundation professionally when interacting with event organizers, donors, and community members
Assist at Riley Children’s Foundation and community fundraising events as requested
Help communicate the mission and impact of Riley Children’s Foundation through donor interactions and materials
5. Other Duties as Assigned
Participate in Riley Children’s Foundation events as requested
Assist with special projects and cross‑departmental initiatives as assigned
The intern may be assigned projects across the broader Riley Children’s Foundation team. The People Operations Manager will identify additional projects and shadowing opportunities aligned with the intern’s professional interests. Throughout the internship, the People Operations Manager will guide the intern through professional and career development activities to support a well‑rounded understanding of the organization.
Position Requirements
Preferred Majors
Communications, Non‑Profit Management, Philanthropy, or similar majors would find this internship beneficial to their career goals and would most likely possess the skills needed to perform assigned projects and tasks.
Technical Skills Needed
Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, Canva, Salesforce platform experience is a plus.
Professional Skills Needed
Ability to appropriately and professionally represent RCF to donors, physicians, and staff in person, on the phone, virtually, and in writing. Interest in non‑profit or development career is a plus but not required. Excellent project management skills. Eagerness to learn. Discretion in working with confidential information. Critical thinking and problem‑solving skills. Self‑starter with time management skills. Ability to succeed in a remote work setting as needed. Personal belief in Riley Children’s Foundation vision, mission, and core values.
