Project Overview

Bechtel is building a semiconductor manufacturing plant in New Albany, Ohio. Bechtel will design and build Phase 1 of the Ohio One project, a total of 2.5 million square feet, including 600,000 square feet of cleanrooms. Construction will require as much steel as eight Eiffel Towers and as much concrete as the tallest skyscrapers. Bechtel will strengthen future economic development in the region by partnering with the North America Building Trades Unions and suppliers to create several thousand new jobs and work with local education organizations to implement new training programs that will support the future talent pipeline.
Job Summary

In this role, you will support and oversee field subcontracts. You will maintain a continuing review of the progress of each subcontract and provide management with information regarding any financial, legal, or technical issues. You will prepare change orders, handle amendments, and resolve any technical issues. Targeted subcontracts include coatings and fireproofing installation subcontractors.
Major Responsibilities

Primarily interface with coatings and fireproofing subcontractors; potentially expand to include other subcontracted scopes.
Overall planning, coordination, and scheduling of subcontractor work; interface with lead superintendents, lead field engineers, the direct hire team, and other team members; serve as a focal point for coordination of work by assigned subcontracts.
Monitor and inspect the subcontractor’s quality of work, validate subcontractors installed quantities, and manage monthly progress payments and invoices.
Monitor subcontractor force account, time and management reports, and coordinate subcontractor’s activities with work performed by others.
Perform surveillance and inspections of subcontractors’ work to confirm compliance with subcontract requirements; monitor subcontractor submittals and coordinate project review; coordinate with engineering when applicable.
Exercise professional judgment within the framework of broad guidelines provided by superiors.
Provide direction to subcontractors, construction office technical or clerical personnel.
May participate as the construction representative during formation, bid, evaluate and award phases of assigned subcontracts, and monitor the subcontractors work processes to ensure adherence to the principles of the Integrated Safety Management System to ensure health and safety of the worker, and quality, productivity, and consistency of the workplace.
Operate with considerable latitude, exercising independent judgment and utilizing construction knowledge and experience in the resolution of typical questions and problems which may arise.
Manage and coordinate subcontractor construction work packages (CWPs) to support subcontract activities in the field.
Manage subcontract‑specific condition reports including creating corrective action plans and participating in causal (apparent/root) analysis; coordinate subcontract execution and scheduling needs with project controls, lead superintendents, and lead field engineers and/or area team.
Education and Experience Requirements

Requires a bachelor’s degree (or international equivalent) and 5‑8 years of relevant experience or 9‑12 years of relevant work experience.
Required Knowledge and Skills

Working knowledge of the Bechtel Standard Work Processes Procedures (SWPPs) and the related Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
Commitment to a “Zero Accidents” safety program.
Demonstrated oral and written communication skills with intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
Construction field experience in execution of a subcontract and direct hire related to coatings and fireproofing.
Understanding of Cost Accounting Standards and determination process for applicability to the work; previous experience as a quality control representative; previous experience managing construction subcontracts and field design changes.
Must be physically able to conduct field inspections and participate in project walk‑downs which may require extensive walking, climbing ladders, scaffolding, using fall protection, walking on elevated platforms, uneven surfaces, and maneuvering around very small and/or confined spaces.
Self‑starter, highly motivated, requiring little supervision, and able to work well in a team environment.
Demonstration of strong safety culture and experience.
Preferred Qualifications

AMPP certification for intumescent fireproofing coating application specialist.
AMPP certification for certified coatings inspector (CIP Level 2).
ICC certification for spray‑applied fireproofing special inspector.
