Surgery - Cardiovascular Physician

Position Overview:RecruitWell is seeking a Board-Certified Cardiothoracic Surgeon to provide full-time locum tenens coverage in Spokane, Washington. This hospital-based opportunity offers a collaborative environment with a comprehensive cardiac surgery program. The ideal candidate will have advanced experience in complex cardiac procedures and be available for ongoing, long-term coverage.

• Start Date: ASAP
• Duration: Ongoing need
• Schedule:
  • Monday-Friday with night and weekend call coverage
  • Rounding typically begins at 7:00 AM or earlier, depending on the first scheduled OR case
• Call Response Time: 30 minutes
• Preferred Coverage: One provider to cover the entire assignment
  • Providers with ongoing/long-term availability of at least two weeks per month will also be considered
• Practice Setting: Hospital-based
• Patient Population: Adult and geriatric
• Admissions: Required
• Trauma Designation: Level III
• Hospital Certification: Stroke Certified
• EMR: Epic
• Patient Assignment: Assigned and unassigned patients
• Facility: Open to considering multiple providers to meet coverage needs

• Provide comprehensive cardiothoracic surgical care, including inpatient management and operative procedures
• Perform daily patient rounding and participate in perioperative care
• Respond to night and weekend call responsibilities
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality patient outcomes
• Document all patient encounters and procedures in the Epic EMR system

Candidates must be proficient in advanced cardiothoracic surgical techniques, including:

• Minimally Invasive Mitral Valve Surgery - Preferred
• Impella 5.5 implantation and support - Required
• Aortic Valve Conservation Procedures - Required
• Aortic Root Remodeling and Enlargement - Required

• Board Certification: Cardiothoracic Surgery - Required
• State License:
  • Active Washington medical license - Required
  • IMLC candidates are welcome (LOQ preferred at time of submission)
• DEA Registration: Required for credentialing
• Experience: Recent and substantial experience in complex cardiothoracic procedures
• Availability: Preference for full-time coverage; minimum of two weeks per month considered
• Call Commitment: Must be able to meet the 30-minute response time
