Job Details
  • Job Title: Locum Tenens Cardiothoracic Surgeon (Cardiac & Thoracic Surgeon)
  • Assignment Type: Locum tenens / travel physician contract
  • Location: Spokane, Washington (Zip: 99204) - Spokane healthcare position
  • Start Date: May 4, 2026 (ASAP start available)
  • Duration: 13 weeks, with potential for extension
  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday with weekend call coverage
  • Shift Duration: 12-hour shifts
  • Minimum Commitment: Preference for full assignment coverage; minimum two weeks per month considered
  • Facility Trauma Level: Level 3
  • Credentialing Timeframe: Approximately 90 days
Job Requirements / Qualifications
  • Board certification in Cardiothoracic Surgery (required)
  • Active physician license (Washington state preferred; ability to obtain Washington license encouraged)
  • Fellowship training in Cardiothoracic Surgery
  • At least 1 year of clinical experience in cardiothoracic surgery (cardiac and thoracic procedures)
  • Proven ability to perform a wide range of cardiac and thoracic surgical procedures
  • Current BLS/ACLS as required by facility policies
Responsibilities / Clinical Duties
  • Perform minimally invasive mitral procedures (preferred)
  • Implant and manage Impella 5.5 devices (required)
  • Perform aortic valve conservation procedures, aortic root remodeling, and enlargement (required)
  • Provide general cardiovascular and thoracic surgery services, including open and endoscopic approaches (required)
  • Coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) on-pump and off-pump (required)
  • Valvular repair and replacement, including TAVR support and related perioperative care (required)
  • Aneurysm repair (cardiac and aorto-thoracic) (required)
  • Ventilator management and management of acute volume and blood pressure issues (required)
  • Insertion and management of central lines, arterial lines, PA catheters, IABP (required)
  • Preferred additional skills: lung resection including VATS, chest wall/pleural procedures, esophageal and diaphragmatic surgery, permanent pacemaker/AICD placement, LVAD experience, bronchoscopy
  • Participate in weekend and phone call coverage as scheduled; collaborate closely with ICU, anesthesia, cardiology, and multidisciplinary teams
