
Print Shop Supervisor

Job Title
The Print Supervisor helps to oversee day-to-day operations of the company's in-house print shop, ensuring high-quality, on-time, cost-effective production and fulfillment. This role leads a team of print and fulfillment professionals while driving process efficiency and continuous improvement. The ideal candidate is hands-on, highly organized, and motivated to remove bottlenecks, manage multiple priorities and enhance structure and accountability across print production and fulfillment. This role is onsite 5 days a week at our Richardson, Texas location with some additional weekend shift work as needed.
Print Shop Operations & Fulfillment Management
Help to manage end-to-end print shop operations including intake, job planning, scheduling, production, finishing, packaging, and fulfillment.
Ensure production quality standards, brand consistency, and adherence to turnaround times, deadlines, and service levels.
Identify and prioritize work for appropriate printers and timelines to ensure printed in priority order.
Review layouts, proofs, and files for print accuracy and production readiness.
Enforce quality control standards and approve final print jobs.
Trouble-shoot complex software issues and print production issues.
Oversee equipment utilization, track meter readings, and coordinate preventative maintenance and maintenance logs.
Administer safety compliance and educate team members. Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant work environment.
Lead, train and mentor a team of print operators and fulfillment staff; model a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
Provide a high-level of customer service and professionalism when interacting with vendors and team members.
Process Efficiency and Cost Management
Identify, analyze, and eliminate operational bottlenecks across production and fulfillment.
Drive process improvement initiatives to streamline workflows, reduce rework, improve cycle time, and optimize costs.
Standardize work practices, improve documentation, and implement scalable systems for job intake, prioritization, and tracking.
Track and conduct monthly inventory for paper, toner, finishing supplies, packaging materials, and shipping needs. Owns the backroom cleanliness and organization.
Requirements
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience in print production, in-house print operations, in a related fulfillment/production environment.
2+ years of experience in leadership (Print Supervisor or Production Lead).
Proven ability to manage people and drive team performance.
Demonstrated experience driving process improvement, operational optimization, and workflow standardization.
Strong working knowledge of print production workflows (digital print preferred), RIP software, color management, and fulfillment operations.
Ability to manage competing priorities, tight deadlines, and fluctuating demand with calm competence.
Share any potential risks and create mitigation options to solve issues.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading and training in a corporate or mid-large size business print operation.
Familiarity with Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
Experience with job ticketing/work order systems.
Physical / Environmental Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods and move materials/equipment as needed (reasonable accommodations available).
Ability to lift, up to 50 pounds, and move supplies around the building.
Comfortable working in a production environment with printers, finishing equipment, and shipping supplies.
May be required to cover some shifts on occasion that are outside normal business hours.
