Overview
The Ombudsman works alongside correctional officers and medical professionals to provide quality healthcare, protect rights, dignity, and health of patients, and address grievances from inmates and families.

Responsibilities

Investigate grievances submitted by inmates through the Administrative Remedy Process (ARP) and ensure each complaint is addressed appropriately.

Maintain thorough logs of all incoming grievances and responses, ensuring compliance with protocols and timelines.

Ensure proper documentation is attached to all grievances, directing responses to the appropriate personnel for resolution.

Handle phone and email complaints from inmate families, forwarding them to the medical management team as necessary.

Generate and submit detailed monthly reports on grievances, ensuring all complaints are logged and resolved promptly.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited nursing school with current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).

Strong healthcare knowledge or equivalent experience in a healthcare setting.

Proven ability to conduct interviews, write reports, and resolve issues effectively.

Current CPR certification required.

Previous experience in customer/client relations highly desirable.

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Critical thinking and independent problem‑solving skills.

Strong organizational, planning, and administrative abilities.

Ability to prioritize and perform well under pressure, meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.

Ability to work in a high‑stress environment.

Physical Capabilities: Ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients up to 50 pounds, bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks such as CPR, while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
