Overview
NaphCare is hiring an Ombudsman to join our team of medical professionals at the Bibb Correctional Facility in Brent, Alabama.

As an Ombudsman, you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals who provide care to the individuals in residence. Working within a controlled environment, where security is top priority and the days are never dull, you will have various duties to keep you engaged. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex medical needs.

Responsibilities

Investigate grievances submitted by inmates through the Administrative Remedy Process (ARP), ensuring each complaint is addressed appropriately.

Maintain thorough logs of all incoming grievances and responses, ensuring compliance with protocols and timelines.

Ensure proper documentation is attached to all grievances, with responses directed to the appropriate personnel for resolution.

Handle phone and email complaints from inmate families, forwarding them to the medical management team as necessary.

Generate and submit detailed monthly reports on grievances, ensuring that all complaints are logged and resolved promptly.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited nursing school with current licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Strong healthcare knowledge or equivalent experience in a healthcare setting

Proven ability to conduct interviews, write reports, and resolve issues effectively

Current CPR Certification required

Previous experience in customer/client relations is highly desirable

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Critical thinking and independent problem‑solving skills

Strong organizational, planning, and administrative abilities

Ability to prioritize and perform well under pressure, meeting deadlines with minimal supervision

Ability to work in a high‑stress environment

Physical Capabilities
Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.
