Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN or LVN)
Open exclusively to current AL DOC incumbent employees. Location: Brent, AL.
Overview
NaphCare is hiring LPNs and LVNs to work as correctional nurses in the Bibb Correctional Facility, Brent, AL. In this role you will collaborate with correctional officers and medical professionals to provide care to incarcerated individuals within a secure environment. Your duties will include performing physical assessments, administering medications, managing chronic illnesses, and responding to emergencies. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference for patients with complex medical needs.
Responsibilities
Perform patient assessments and interview patients about current health problems, including medication history.
Take vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, and weight.
Provide wound care, including cleaning and bandaging injured areas.
Administer medication, including injections, and monitor reactions.
Maintain medical records and enter information into the electronic health record system (TechCare).
Observe patient health and mental health status.
Provide emergency first aid.
Educate patients and assist with discharge/release planning.
Qualifications
Education / Licenses / Certifications / Requirements:
Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program.
High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
Active state certification as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
Obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred).
Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues.
Maintain confidentiality of proprietary and confidential information and adhere to all facility correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
Pass the facility's criminal background check and drug screening.
Physical Capabilities:
Ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients up to 50 pounds, bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks such as CPR while maintaining balance and endurance throughout a shift.
