LPN PRN
to join our team of medical professionals in Loxley, AL, where we manage all aspects of healthcare for individuals incarcerated in the Loxley Community Work Center. As a
Correctional Nurse , you will work alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to residents in a controlled environment with security as a priority. Duties include performing physical assessments, administering medications, managing chronic illnesses, and responding to emergencies.
Responsibilities
Perform patient assessments and interview patients about current health problems and medication history
Take vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, weight)
Provide wound care, including cleaning and bandaging
Administer medications, including injections, and monitor reactions
Maintain medical records and enter information into the electronic health record (TechCare)
Observe patient health and mental health status
Provide emergency first aid
Provide patient education and discharge/release planning
Qualifications / Requirements
Graduate from a Licensed Practical Nursing program
High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Actively state certified as a Licensed Vocational Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse
Ability to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to Code of Conduct; comply with facility correctional healthcare policies and legal requirements
Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
Physical Capabilities
Must be able to stand for long periods, lift and move patients up to 50 pounds, bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk long distances, and perform CPR and other physically demanding tasks while maintaining balance and endurance.
