What you will be doing
You’ll be responsible for coordinating all work-based learning (WBL) activities both on and off center for all students. Coordinate work-based learning for those students who do not reside in the local area, in compliance with government and management directives.
Essential Functions
Plan and coordinate all on and off-center work-based learning sites for students on center. These sites should encompass all career technical training offerings.
Facilitate new, local and distant work-based learning sites for students to obtain the necessary work experience.
Log and track all work-based learning hours for students in the work-based learning program in center information system (CIS).
Establish a network of employers that consist of paid and unpaid sites. These sites should be both local and distant. The distant sites will represent work-based learning opportunities for students.
Work with career technical training instructors to ensure students are learning the necessary skills to maintain success on the WBL site.
Attend all CRC and CIC meetings to ensure that consistent connections are being made with local employers and business to continue opportunities for students.
Work closely with the business community liaison at community events to publish and promote the WBL program.
Maintain a spreadsheet and other tracking documents regarding all students who are enrolled in the WBL program.
Assess students’ work skills, appearance and articulation skills before they are sent to a work site.
Conduct work-based learning seminars with students and instructors to highlight the importance of the WBL sites and expectations of the site.
Provide positive, quality customer services to students, staff and other center customers.
Participate in student employability programs and activities.
Support, promote, and enforce the Job Corps’ Zero Tolerance Policy.
Promote the development of Career Success Standards by modeling appropriate behaviors, mentoring students where necessary and monitoring both positive and negative behaviors through interventions.
Maintain accountability of students and property; adhere to safety practices.
Education & Experience
Associate’s degree and two years’ related experience. Direct related experience may be considered in lieu of formal education requirements.
Experience with youth, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and computer proficiency required.
Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
