Nurse Manager - Pediatric Emergency

Responsibilities
Our ideal candidate will provide leadership and operational oversight for the Pediatric Emergency Department, ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, family-centered care to pediatric patients in a fast-paced emergency setting. The Pediatric Emergency Nurse Manager is responsible for managing daily clinical operations, staffing, patient flow, regulatory compliance, employee engagement, and performance improvement initiatives. This leader collaborates closely with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to promote excellence in pediatric emergency services while fostering a culture of compassion, accountability, and teamwork.

Oversees daily operations of the Pediatric Emergency Department, ensuring efficient workflow, staffing coverage, and patient throughput.

Leads, coaches, and develops nursing staff through performance management, education, and mentorship.

Ensures delivery of age-appropriate, evidence-based emergency care for infants, children, and adolescents.

Monitors patient safety, quality metrics, and regulatory compliance standards.

Partners with physicians and leadership to improve patient experience, outcomes, and departmental performance.

Manages scheduling, productivity, payroll, and departmental budgets.

Coordinates hiring, onboarding, retention, and staff engagement initiatives.

Responds to escalated patient, family, or operational concerns in a timely and professional manner.

Supports emergency preparedness, disaster readiness, and departmental readiness plans.

Leads quality improvement projects and drives a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.

DC RN License required.

Bachelor's degree in Nursing required; Master's degree preferred.

Minimum 3-5 years of Pediatric Emergency or Emergency Department nursing experience.

Previous leadership or management experience preferred.

BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications required.

Strong leadership, communication, conflict resolution, and decision-making skills.

Knowledge of pediatric emergency standards, regulatory requirements, and quality improvement practices.
