Job Overview
Position: Visiting Lecturer in Dance, 9‑month, non‑tenure accruing faculty, two‑year term. Date of expected hire: August 16, 2026. Salary: $60,000 with a comprehensive leave and benefits package. Location: Gainesville, FL, Main Campus. Work type: Full Time.

Responsibilities

Teach undergraduate dance courses—including all levels of Contemporary Ballet Practices, Somatics, Contemporary Dance Practices, Dance Composition, and Ensemble courses.

Contribute to curricular efforts in additional dance‑related areas such as improvisation, dance studies, cultural studies, dance pedagogy, dance and technology, and experiential anatomy/dance kinesiology, including Quest or General Education courses.

Participate in the dance season, choreographing or providing artistic leadership for performances.

Mentor BA and BFA senior projects.

Serve on School, College, and University committees as part of shared governance.

Engage in the learning community, finding innovative ways to integrate dance with critical discourses in other disciplines.

Participate in effective student recruitment, guidance, and retention.

Qualifications
Required:

Terminal degree (MFA, PhD, or PhD ABD) in Dance or related fields, or equivalent qualifications based on professional experience.

Record of national or international achievement in the field.

Evidence of collaboration and collegiality with faculty, students, and staff.

Evidence of skill in designing and facilitating academic work that respects open intellectual discourse and promotes well‑being of all in an environment of complex differences.

Preferred:

Teaching experience of 3 years beyond graduate assistantship at the university level.

Commitment to innovative and cross‑disciplinary curricula.

Aptitude for working toward structural and strategic change.

Effective engagement in recruitment.

Salary: $60,000 with a comprehensive and highly competitive leave and benefits package. The position is covered by the United Faculty of Florida Contract.
