Summary
Machine Operator is the first‑level operator responsible for ensuring product quality by managing the entire machine operation process. Responsibilities include startup, changeover, basic troubleshooting, monitoring product quality, following control plans, training others, and contributing to a zero‑defect, high‑quality production environment. A strong commitment to safety is required.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain a safe working environment in compliance with all safety and environmental policies.
Stop processes to correct quality, safety or environmental problems and place suspect product on quality hold, notifying supervisors when processes become non‑compliant.
Drive towards meeting balance scorecard metric targets including safety, sustainability, quality, delivery, and cost.
Complete control plan inspections (CPIR).
Load, unload, sort and inspect component parts and assemblies per Control Plans, ensuring accurate assembly.
Monitor part quality data and enter corrections/offsets as required.
Handle non‑conforming products and quality sorts.
Submit continuous improvement ideas to support Operational Excellence programs.
Maintain established 6S standards for the work area.
Operate all required equipment efficiently.
Perform responsibilities of the Associate Machine Operator role as needed.
Complete line start‑ups and changeover activities.
Complete SAP transactions.
Identify and recover machine faults.
Pursue other duties during downtime.
Complete all required departmental documentation by the end of the shift.
Monitor cycle time.
Perform inventory checks.
Monitor trends and scrap.
Perform weekly preventative maintenance, including fluid monitoring and greasing machinery.
Change tape.
Enter CPOS data.
Share knowledge and train other employees at thyssenkrupp, promoting a learning culture.
Cross‑train into different areas to help maintain production demands.
Certify employees seeking qualification in the Associate Machine Operator role, if required.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED. One year or more prior manufacturing experience preferred.
Basic arithmetic skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division in all units of measure, and ability to compute rates, ratios and percentages.
Ability to read, interpret and apply safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and written or oral instructions.
Proficiency in SAP Integrated Business software and Maximo work order software; comfortable using Windows operating system and Microsoft Office Suite.
Travel not required.
