About the Department
The IV Room is a specialized unit within UVA Health’s Inpatient Pharmacy, dedicated to sterile compounding in a newly renovated, state‑of‑the‑art clean room. This environment supports high‑acuity patient care across the hospital’s 528‑bed inpatient census.

What We Do
Pharmacy Technicians in the IV Room perform sterile compounding of IV medications in compliance with USP and industry standards. Responsibilities include:

Prepare chemotherapy, antibiotics, and other critical infusions for both adult and pediatric patients.

Operate within a controlled clean room environment to ensure safety and accuracy.

Collaborate with pharmacists to meet urgent and routine patient needs.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: High School Graduate or Equivalent.

Experience: 6 months minimum relevant experience.

Licensure/Certifications: Commonwealth of Virginia Pharmacy Technician Registration required. CPhT credential through NHA or PTCB required. For candidates hired prior to February 1, 2020, certification as CPhT through NHA or PTCB required by January 31, 2022.

Physical Demands
Job requires standing for prolonged periods. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly; ability to lift/push/pull less than 20 lbs.

Onboarding Requirements
Background checks and pre‑employment health screenings will be conducted on all new hires prior to employment. All safety‑sensitive positions with direct patient interaction also require a drug screen.

Compensation
The starting base rate for this role is $20.68 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate’s qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
