Opportunity Highlights Schedule: Monday - Friday, 0800 - 1700 + call. 24 hour call on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. 5PM on weekdays. Sunday - Saturday call coverage. Job Setting: Hospital Inpatient - Consultative services for patients admitted to ICUs. Flowers Hospital has 32 critical care beds (SICU, MICU, CVCU, CCU). Hospitalists will admit and serve as the attending physician for the ICU beds, and will consult the intensivist for bedside procedures, ventilator management, and other pulmonary and critical care related services. A nurse practitioner will assist in seeing patients during the weekday. Types of Cases: 20-25 patients seen per call shift. Average phone consults per call shift: 2-3. Average admissions per call shift: 5-7. Mid-level staff are available to assist with inpatient rounding. Preferred skills include: Ventilation Management (Invasive and Non-invasive), Chest tube insertion, Bronchoscopy (with bronchial alveolar lavage), Evaluation and management of acute volume/BP issues, Insertion of Central line, Insertion of Arterial line, Insertion of PA catheter, Insertion of Intra-Aortic Balloon pump (IABP), Temporary placement, ICP evaluation and management, Dialysis catheter placement, Diagnostic/therapeutic taps (Lumbar puncture, Paracentesis, Thoracentesis). Credentialing: Estimated 45 days Minimum Requirements Board Certified/Board Eligible: Board certification not required. Certifications: ACLS and BLS required.
