Position Summary
The Registered Nurse will provide nursing care for psychiatric patients including children, adolescents, geriatric, and chemical dependency patients using the nursing process. Duties include assessing mental health needs, developing nursing diagnoses, identifying outcomes, planning and evaluating nursing care, administering or monitoring medication and treatments, ensuring safety, and providing milieu management and crisis intervention strategies.
Job Duties / Responsibilities
Provide leadership and direction to licensed vocational nurses, psychiatric technicians, and counselors. Direct milieu management.
Provide assessment of patients’ psychiatric and medical status.
Contribute to treatment plans as a member of the interdisciplinary team.
Document nursing care, treatment, and patient’s response to treatment.
Recognize signs and symptoms of mental health disorders and chemical dependency disorders and apply/utilize appropriate treatment interventions.

Qualifications
Graduate of accredited school of nursing (Associate’s Degree) required. BSN preferred.
Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas required.
Minimum of one year related experience required. Psychiatric nursing experience is preferred.
CPR and HWC Crisis Intervention training must be completed prior to beginning work.
