Kingwood Pines Hospital is a 116‑bed facility located in the beautiful residential Kingwood community, about 30 miles northeast of the Houston Medical Center. We provide 24‑hour emergency services and serve children, adolescents, and adults for psychiatric and behavioral health. Services also include intensive outpatient and partial hospital programs.
Position Summary

The Intake Nurse / Counselor provides medical screening and triage to all psychiatric and chemical dependency patients presented for assessment and evaluation; coordinates the admission process for inpatient, partial, or outpatient programs. Facilitates referrals for outpatient services and other community resources.
Key Responsibilities

Perform initial nursing screening and appropriate clinical assessment on all persons who present for an evaluation.
Recognizes signs and symptoms of chemical dependency disorders and applies/utilizes appropriate treatment interventions.
Recognizes signs and symptoms of mental health disorders and applies/utilizes appropriate treatment interventions.
Assess, direct and intervene in crisis situations.
Administer medications as ordered by the physician when the need occurs.
Perform the nurse‑to‑nurse screen for all patients transferred in or out of the Admissions Department.
Perform and document all pre‑certifications on all admissions.
Facilitate referrals to outpatient treatment services.
Assume personal responsibility for excellent customer service.
Respond to telephone and face‑to‑face inquiries from persons seeking behavioral health services.
Document calls and related information on Intake form and enter data into computer system.
Stay abreast of organization’s programs and services.
Assist Director with performance monitors.
Qualifications

Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Bachelor’s preferred.
Licensure/Certification: Current RN TX license.
Current Texas driver’s license.
Minimum of two (2) years of experience in psychiatric nursing is preferred.
Shift / Hours

9 a.m. – 9 p.m. – Rotating shifts
