Description of Work
The Food Allergy Research and Resource Program (FARRP) works to develop and provide the food industry with credible information, expert opinions, tools, and services relating to allergenic foods, novel foods, and food ingredients including genetically modified products. FARRP takes a comprehensive approach, working and collaborating with research institutions, governmental authorities, consumer groups, and scientific societies around the globe to improve the safety of food products for consumers.

Responsibilities

Perform confidential analysis for trace amounts of allergenic foods using immunochemical methods.

Maintain detailed documentation, identify appropriate extraction procedures, perform methods evaluations and comparisons, and perform ancillary lab functions.

Assist in client and accreditation official’s audits to help maintain the lab’s ISO :17025 accreditation.

Within the UNL system, this position is categorized as a Research Technologist II.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in food science or another relevant science field plus three years experience in a food industry or analytical testing lab.

Previous laboratory experience including reagent preparation, use of controls, reference materials, and accurate documentation.

Experience independently assessing and addressing assay and sample anomalies.

Ability to multi-task.

Preferred Qualifications

Master’s degree.

Experience with immunoassays and aseptic technique.

Experience with methods development or modifying existing assays.

Salary
Posted Salary: $52,000/year minimum.
