
Machine Operator - B Shift

Job Purpose
To set up and run the Sodick Wire EDMs while maintaining part quality and production efficiencies.
Duties and Responsibilities
Setup, operate and debug Sodick Wire EDMs.
Make machine tool offsets as needed to maintain part quality.
Make minor program changes to M & G code as needed.
Identify signs of tool wear and then make the appropriate process or tool change(s).
Read process sheets and mechanical drawings with understanding of GD&T.
Work on multiple machines and perform multiple tasks throughout the day.
Use general measuring instruments such as indicators, micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, gauge blocks, rules, protractors and height gauges.
Enter inspection data into a computer software program.
Perform basic machine maintenance such as changing fluids and filters.
Maintain a clean work environment and machine work area.
Follow company written policy and documented procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum 3–5 years of experience setting up and running EDMs or CNC Lathes and Mills, or technical training focusing on CNC setups and operation.
Ability to read blueprints and knowledge of GD&T mandatory.
Knowledge of Esprit programs with understanding of cutting parameters.
Understanding of metric and English measuring systems mandatory.
Ability to use a variety of measuring equipment.
High School Diploma or Technical Training Certificate.
Working Conditions
Standard work week Monday through Friday on B-Shift.
Working in production environment.
Required exposure to industrial oils, coolants, solvents, lubricants, adhesives and other chemicals; safety precautions will be used.
Requirement for some independent actions and/or decisions expected.
Required to work in a non-air-conditioned setting.
Some repetitive motion required on occasion.
Physical Requirements
Periodic lifting of materials and parts weighing up to 70 lbs.
Intermittent long periods of sitting and standing.
