Position Summary
2nd shift machinist on the Cook team starting at a minimum of $26 per hour (DOE) plus a $1.50 shift differential, $1.00 raises every 6 months, and a quarterly performance bonus of up to $750. Must be flexible enough to train on 1st shift for 4–6 weeks as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Read and interpret blueprints and design sketches to ensure proper dimensions and specifications for parts.
Perform machine set‑ups to obtain close tolerances, fitting, and alignment of machined parts.
Obtain required inspections on first pieces of a run according to prescribed procedure and perform inspections on work‑in‑progress using a variety of measuring devices.
Select the appropriate cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials for machines.
Examine and measure completed units and parts to identify defects and ensure conformity; adjust machine controls to resolve production errors.
Utilize Geometric Dimension and Tolerance as called out on print.
Operate fabrication machinery, mostly Mazak and HAAS equipment, to produce parts used in manufacturing processes.
Ensure proper machine set‑up and accurate interpretation of prints and specifications to prevent damage to material and detect errors with frequent tolerance/quality checks.
Skills and Qualifications
Excellent mechanical and mathematical skills.
Ability to operate various types of machine tools to perform progressive machining.
Ability to read blueprints and plans.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or equivalent required; college coursework or other formal training in a related field preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of trade school apprenticeship or equivalent shop experience.
Technical training in shop math and blueprint reading necessary.
