Out of the Box, Dallas, TX, United States
Advisory Consultant (ERP & Accounting)
Out of the Box Technology (OOTB) is a leading outsourced accounting, financial advisory, and technology advisory firm. Within our Advisory Practice, we ensure technology transformations work; not just technically, but operationally.
This role is a true hybrid of ERP implementation and accounting advisory. You’ll lead client engagements end-to-end, from identifying accounting issues to designing and implementing systems and processes that solve them.
The ideal candidate is comfortable working within QuickBooks Online or Intuit Enterprise Suite while also advising on core accounting operations, including close processes, controls, and reporting.
This is a client-facing, billable role reporting to the VP of Advisory, with ownership of engagements from scope through delivery.
What You’ll Do
ERP Implementation & Systems Integration
Lead full-cycle ERP implementations (primarily QuickBooks Online and Intuit Enterprise Suite), including requirements gathering, configuration, UAT, go-live, and stabilization
Own the integration strategy and execution across key SaaS tools (e.g., CRM, AP automation, payroll, revenue systems)
Translate business requirements into scalable system design
Partner with data migration resources to ensure data is structured, mapped, and deployed correctly
Support clients through cutover, training, and early-stage month-end close cycles
Accounting Advisory & Process Improvement
Perform accounting health checks to assess accuracy, structure, and reliability of financials
Identify root causes and deliver clear, actionable recommendations
Lead cleanup work, including chart of accounts restructuring, transaction reclassification, and reconciliations
Redesign finance processes such as month-end close, AP/AR workflows, and reporting
Evaluate control environments and identify gaps in segregation of duties, approvals, and oversight
Conduct risk assessments and help prioritize areas of exposure
Client & Project Ownership
Manage multiple client engagements, ensuring timelines, scope, and quality are met
Serve as a trusted advisor to Controllers and CFOs
Communicate technical and accounting concepts clearly and effectively
Navigate ambiguity and adapt to real-world client environments
What We’re Looking For
Required
2–5 years of experience in accounting, advisory, or ERP/financial systems implementation
Strong accounting foundation with the ability to assess and explain financial issues
Experience working with or integrating financial systems (ERP, GL, or related SaaS tools)
Proven project management and client‑facing experience
Preferred
CPA or progress toward CPA
Hands‑on experience implementing QuickBooks Online and/or Intuit Enterprise Suite
Background in consulting, advisory, or outsourced accounting
Experience supporting high‑growth or lower‑middle‑market companies
Exposure to tools such as Salesforce, HubSpot, Bill.com, Ramp, Rippling, ServiceTitan, or Maxio
What Sets You Apart
Comfortable operating in
ambiguous or complex environments
Able to connect accounting challenges to system‑driven solutions
Practical, execution‑focused, and detail‑oriented
Strong problem‑solver who can turn complexity into structure
