Sr. Procurement Specialist
12‑month assignment, Sylmar, CA
Main Purpose of Role
Leads and manages multiple supply chain projects simultaneously to include corporate programs involving supplier risk mitigation and resilience.
Analyze supplier quotes, bids, RFQs, RFPs and recommend best total cost options.
Source and evaluate mechanical and electrical vendors for medical device components.
Lead contract negotiations, pricing discussions, and vendor onboarding.
Manage procurement requests, purchase orders, and vendor communications.
Track and report on project milestones, procurement timelines, and cost savings.
Support tariff mitigation strategies and identify opportunities for second sourcing.
Collaborate with engineering, quality, and regulatory teams to ensure supplier compliance.
Maintain accurate records of sourcing decisions, contracts, and supplier performance.
Ensure alignment with medical device industry standards and internal quality systems.
Identify, develop, and gather necessary resources to complete all project phases: scope, charter, execution, escalation requests, post implementation, and closure.
Work cross‑functionally to perform risk analyses and develop mitigation strategies to improve the supply chain and ensure successful project completion.
Direct project execution by assigning tasks, tracking project schedules, identifying risks, and developing and executing contingency plans.
Provide support and direction to project staff on problem solving, visualization of data, and development of metrics (KPIs).
Communicate project status by preparing standard status reports and participating in departmental and customer project status update meetings.
Resolve project issues by working with team members, project stakeholders, customers, and others as appropriate.
Break down complex projects or issues and present them in a digestible format for all levels of the organization.
Interface with senior management on significant matters, often requiring coordination of activity across organizational units.
Exercise judgment independently.
Establish priorities of individual or project assignments.
Perform other supply chain project related work and other duties as assigned by manager.
Education and Experience You'll Bring
Required
Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, supply chain, finance operations management, business administration or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
4+ years of experience as an engineer, technical project manager, procurement, supply chain, finance, preferably in the medical device business or other highly regulated industry.
Proficient in use of Microsoft Project, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Demonstration of strong interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
Thorough knowledge of engineering, procurement, supply chain and other project‑related activities, including their interfaces and interdependencies.
Strong commitment to safety and environmental guidelines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Experience processing data and visualization of data.
Must be able to work without direct supervision to accomplish goals and meet schedules.
Proven solid work ethic and ability to work well with others as well as independently.
Ability to manage deadlines and adjust to changing priorities.
Possess strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting skills.
Must be open‑minded and adaptive to change, promote the collective interests of the team more than self‑interest, and resolve problems in a respectful manner.
Preferred
Experience in medical device manufacturing or supply chain.
Prior procurement and/or analyst experience.
