Required Qualifications

• Board Certified in Gastroenterology (required)
• Active Washington State medical license (or ability to obtain quickly)
• Fellowship-trained in Gastroenterology
• Minimum of 1 year clinical experience in gastroenterology or GI practice
• Current ACLS and BLS certifications
• Clean professional history to support expedited credentialing (60-90 days)

Key Responsibilities (Gastroenterology Physician Duties)

• Provide inpatient and consultative gastroenterology care, including hospital rounding and call coverage (average 5 patient encounters per shift)
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic upper GI endoscopy (EGD) with biopsies, foreign body removal, fulguration, and variceal injection
• Perform ERCP (diagnostic and therapeutic) and endoscopic ultrasound (EUS)
• Perform colonoscopy with polypectomy/biopsy, flexible and rigid sigmoidoscopy
• Conduct PEG placements, liver biopsy, small bowel biopsy, esophageal manometry interpretation, and esophageal dilation
• Manage acute GI bleeding and place/manage Sengstaken-Blakemore tubes as needed
• Document clinical encounters accurately in the EMR and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
