Dispensary Supervisor

Overview
The Dispensary Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all day-to-day operations in the dispensary, including aiding the Dispensary Manager, meeting guests’ expectations for quality and service, and cash handling. The role requires accurate use of state NJMMP site and Metrc Point-Of-Sales system, daily register balances, product inventory, troubleshooting patient-related discrepancies, and maintaining a smooth flow of operation daily.

Responsibilities

Oversee day-to-day dispensary operations and guest experience on the retail floor.

Aid the Dispensary Manager in daily functions and ensure high standards of service.

Maintain cash handling, daily register balances, and accuracy in the POS system.

Troubleshoot patient-related discrepancies and ensure compliance with regulations.

Lead and motivate staff, promoting a guest-first philosophy and strong product knowledge.

Coordinate staffing, breaks, and floor coverage; assign daily tasks for efficiency in sales, inventory, and security.

Communicate daily specials, promotions, and operational updates to staff.

Address and de-escalate guest concerns promptly; enforce handbook policies on attendance and standards.

Maintain store aesthetics, merchandising, organization, and cleanliness; uphold security and safety measures.

Support employee development, provide feedback, and participate in performance reviews where applicable.

Identify opportunities related to product assortment, processes, and sales, and help develop action plans.

Open and close the store as assigned; participate in additional responsibilities as directed by Management.

May take on areas such as scheduling, time/attendance tracking, education, accounting, or supply ordering.

Perform other related duties as required.

Contribute to inventory control, seed-to-sale processes, and ongoing industry knowledge updates.

Inventory Responsibilities

Pick and build orders for sales; assist with morning and evening inventory counts.

Assist in receipt and in-processing of incoming product deliveries; participate in cycle counts.

Perform other related duties as required.

Cash Handling Responsibilities

Follow dispensary cash handling policies for drops and deposits.

Count and close daily tills and ensure balanced counts; coordinate cash counts with Management.

Ensure cash is bundled for bank pick-up in accordance with guidelines.

Qualifications
Education and Experience

Proficient verbal and written communication skills with customers and colleagues.

Dependable team player with a strong work ethic and availability during peak times, including weekends.

2+ years of experience in the cannabis industry; experience in a supervisory or managerial role is required.

Excellent guest service skills, both on the phone and in person.

Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment and remain composed under stress.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and ethical conduct.

Basic math skills for inventory, projections, and measurements.

Strong cash management and inventory control abilities.

Managerial skills with understanding of company policies, procedures, and SOPs.

Computers and Technology

Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook; able to learn and use POS and patient data management software.

Schedule
Available to work a daily schedule with flexibility for mandatory overtime as required to meet business needs. Subject to change as business needs.

Work Environment And Physical Demands
The work environment is retail-based, requiring standing, walking, and occasional lifting up to 50 lbs for short distances. Reasonable accommodations may be requested to enable performance of essential functions.
