
Quality Inspector - Generator Enclosures (2nd Shift)

Overview
The Quality Inspector is responsible for inspecting generator enclosures to ensure they meet engineering specifications, customer requirements, and applicable quality standards. This role focuses on dimensional accuracy, structural integrity, workmanship, coating/finish quality, and documentation compliance throughout the fabrication and assembly process.
Responsibilities
Inspect generator enclosures at incoming material, in-process, and final inspection stages.
Perform visual inspections of welds for workmanship, consistency, and overall quality.
Verify fit-up, dimensions, doors, panels, louvers, fasteners, and hardware installation.
Inspect surface preparation, paint, and coatings for coverage and visible defects.
Read and follow engineering drawings, specifications, and quality work instructions.
Use basic measuring and inspection tools such as tape measures, calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
Identify nonconforming materials or workmanship and document findings using inspection reports and NCRs.
Communicate quality issues to production, engineering, and supervisory personnel.
Verify corrective actions and assist with re-inspection of repaired items.
Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow all PPE and safety requirements.
Support production workflow by performing inspections in a timely manner.
Education & Experience
Minimum Education : High School
Minimum Years Of Experience : 2-4
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
2+ years of experience in welding, fabrication, manufacturing, or mechanical assembly.
Ability to read and understand shop drawings and technical specifications.
Strong attention to detail and consistent workmanship standards.
Basic computer skills for inspection documentation.
Reliability, accountability, and ability to work 2nd shift hours.
Preferred Skills
Experience working with generator enclosures, cabinets, skids, or similar metal structures.
Hands-on welding or fabrication background.
Familiarity with visual weld inspection practices.
Exposure to paint or coating inspection requirements.
Experience working within a structured quality system.
Physical & Work Environment
Stand, walk, bend, kneel, and climb for extended periods during inspections.
Lift and maneuver tools or materials as required.
Work around fabrication, welding, and coating operations.
Industrial fabrication and assembly shop environment.
Exposure to welding operations, overhead material handling, and paint processes.
Non-climate-controlled conditions.
