Summary
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval—award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years)—are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Duties

The NP practices to the full extent of their education, training, and certification.

Core functions are outlined in the clinical privileges that correspond with this position.

The NP has prescriptive authority for a panel of patients or program as indicated by their position.

The NP is a licensed independent practitioner with advanced education and national certification who provides evidence‑based care for a population of patients.

Major duties and responsibilities include:

Independently managing a panel of patients with acute and chronic health conditions, emphasizing health promotion and disease prevention through evidence‑based practice.

Developing and implementing individualized plans to achieve optimal population health and disease management.

Demonstrating leadership and collaborating with the interdisciplinary team.

Ordering and interpreting lab tests, diagnostic studies.

Prescribing pharmacologic and non‑pharmacologic interventions.

Initiating referrals and consults to specialty services.

Providing education to patients and their families.

Assessing and adjusting the plan of care as needed to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
