Classification Title: LAH OPS Veterinary Technician
The University of Florida Large Animal Hospital is seeking a self‑motivated and compassionate part‑time veterinary technician to join our team.
Applicants should be seeking a flexible part‑time schedule and enjoy learning new things while quickly adapting to a changing environment. This position requires on‑call availability during nights, weekends, and holidays, with additional hours expected to cover staff leave.
The role involves treating and handling horses and may include goats, pigs, alpacas, cattle, sheep, and llama patients. As a member of our nursing staff, you will perform medical treatments and procedures under the supervision of senior staff and must be reachable within 30 minutes of a call.
Responsibilities
Work on‑call for nights, weekends, and holidays with additional coverage for staff leave.
Perform medical treatments and procedures under senior staff supervision.
Handle and restrain animal patients, lifting required weights.
Respond within 30 minutes of being called where possible.
Qualifications
Must have experience with horses to be considered.
Must be capable of lifting at least 50 lbs and be able to bend, kneel, and squat for periods of time to restrain and treat patients.
Must be able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs, bend, kneel, pull, push, twist and stand for an extended period of time.
Prefer experience as a Veterinary Technician.
Health Assessment Required
Yes; must be physically able to lift a minimum of 40 lbs, bend, kneel, pull, push, twist, and stand for an extended period of time.
Expected Salary
$15.00 hourly
