
RN Registered Nurse Emerson 3 Med Surg Geriatrics FT Nights

This is a full‑time Night Shift RN position.
Location: LOC0001 – 55 Fogg Road, Weymouth, MA 02190, South Shore Health.
Pay: $38.20–$77.39 per hour.
Shift: 12‑hour nights, 3 shifts per week, plus every third weekend and rotating holidays.
Responsibilities
Manages individualized, outcome‑oriented nursing care through the nursing process.
Provides care, treatment and services, including assessment, planning, and care provision, following departmental and hospital policies.
Medication Administration – follows SSH policies for administering, transcribing, recording medications; completes medication reconciliation and proper documentation for narcotics.
Plan of care: develops, discusses, and communicates a prioritized problem list/plan of care for each patient; updates outcomes.
Initiates admission assessment within 8 hours of admission; identifies and documents teaching needs.
Continues assessment/reassessment, identifies care needs.
Documents patient care following nursing policy, unit standards, disease processes (CHF, PNA, vaccines) and nurse sensitive indicators.
Assesses pain, applies appropriate pain scales and interventions.
Advocates for patient/family, seeks help when needed.
Raises ethical concerns, seeks resources for ethical decision‑making.
Communicates plan of day via whiteboard updates during each shift.
Facilitates discharge/transfer by 12:00 pm, identifies barriers.
Fosters a culture of safety through ownership and safe environment.
Verifies patient identification with two identifiers; performs time‑out prior to invasive procedures.
Complies with CDC hand hygiene guidelines; uses PPE; disposes of hazardous materials; accesses MSDS sheets.
Ensures environment meets regulatory requirements.
Demonstrates roles during emergency preparedness.
Professional development: meets at least 5 contact hours per year; incorporates evidence‑based practice.
Practices within MA Nurse Practice Act; directs licensed and non‑licensed staff as assigned.
Receives and implements feedback and change recommendations.
Builds professional relationships across disciplines.
Critical thinking: analyzes problems, evaluates solutions, communicates via chain of command.
Stays informed of policy changes.
Uses technology to support processes; accesses Lotus Notes, learning management, and required software.
Understands downtime operations.
Maintains legal, regulatory, and ethical compliance.
Safeguards patient privacy and security.
Elevates potential compliance issues to supervisory staff.
Collaborates with patient and family; welcomes participation according to preferences.
Considers age and cultural knowledge; delivers sensitive care.
Utilizes interpreter services and online resources for diverse populations.
Qualifications and Certifications
Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing.
Previous acute‑care RN experience preferred.
RN – Registered Nurse licence.
Required certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Emergency Response Training, Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Trauma Nurse Core Course (TNCC), Trauma Care After Resuscitation (TCAR); instruction in these courses is a plus.
Must meet mandatory education requirements of compliance, privacy, and security programs.
