
Laboratory Technician - Evenings

Recover cord blood, cord tissue, and placental tissue utilizing aseptic technique to appropriately recover donated Umbilical Blood/Cord Blood, and Placenta for storage. This will be an evening shift role (~2:30-11pm) after the initial training period.
Responsibilities
Performs all duties and responsibilities in compliance with the current standard operating procedures (SOP), regulations outlined in the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR), American Association of Blood Bank (AABB), and other applicable Federal, State and Local laws.
Performs manipulations of products according to laboratory SOPs to achieve predetermined endpoints such as depletion of particular population of cells, volume reduction, and cell recovery.
Performs testing to assess product content and safety, including nucleated cell counts, sterility sampling, CFU assay determination of CD34+ cells and cell viability.
Ensures the Stem Cell products and reagents inside freezers and refrigerators are kept in a neat, clean and organized manner.
Assists with the preparation and the allocating of reagents and media and making sure that only validated and not expired reagents are used during processing.
Report any nonconformance s observed during processing to an immediate supervisor or Laboratory Director.
Reviews files and test results for accuracy and completeness.
Assemble kits to send to clients.
Scanning and archiving laboratory records.
Participates in weekend and holidays rotations when necessary.
Performs all other duties, at the discretion of management, as assigned.
Performs quality controls practices as defined by SOP's of designated processors and LLSC.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.

Ability to lift up to 20 pounds independently (equipment, shipping boxes) and larger weight with assistance.
Long period (up to 8 hours) of time standing with minimal or no interruptions
Ability to work some weekends
Qualifications & Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology preferred or a relevant field
Experience in a clinical laboratory or blood center strongly preferred
Medical laboratory technologist license preferred
Must possess the skills and abilities to successfully perform all assigned duties and responsibilities
Must be able to maintain confidentiality
Working using aseptic methods
Knows how to use pipettes
Be able to calibrate instruments and follow laboratory procedures described in SOP’s
Effectively work independently and in a team environment
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Ability to perform calculation manually in order for example to calculate cell recovery
