Salary Range: $61.00 – $79.67 (Hourly Rate). Placement is based on experience, internal equity, and union agreements where applicable.

Description
Northwestern Medicine offers a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant position in our Cardiac Electrophysiology department at Palos Hospital. The role involves inpatient rounding, new consults in hospital settings, and an outpatient clinic supporting a growing service line.

Schedule: 4 days of 10‑hour shifts with rotating days off throughout the week.

Essential Functions

Demonstrate clinical expertise and apply knowledge via patient care activities, including diagnosis and management of a wide range of health problems.

Responsibility for health outcomes of an assigned patient population.

Collaborate with physicians and other health professionals in clinical expertise.

Develop appropriate educational systems for patients, families, and staff.

Mentor graduate students in advanced practice and patient care.

Participate in quality improvement and research related to the specialty.

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients' health status through histories and physical exams.

Provide direct clinical care to patients.

Prescribe or order medications, therapies, lab tests, X‑rays, and procedures per clinical privileges.

Evaluate patients to determine need for further care.

Provide comprehensive teaching to patients and families.

Document all care and education in the medical record.

Refer to other disciplines as appropriate and consult as an expert.

Integrate research‑based knowledge into clinical decision making.

Exemplify a professional image in appearance, manner, and presentation.

Advocate for patients, families, coworkers, and the community.

Maintain certifications and continuing education required for licensure and privileging.

Serve as a patient advocate and role model for “Patients First.”

Participate in unit, departmental, divisional, or hospital committees and task forces as appropriate.

Develop and provide teaching strategies for patients and families.

Develop and engage in continuing education programs for staff.

Serve as preceptor and role model for students.

Provide formal education to internal and external groups in the specialty area.

Participate in quality improvement and research initiatives for patient populations.

Qualifications
Required

Master’s degree from an accredited nursing school or Physician Assistant Program.

Adult Geriatric Acute Care certification required for APRNs.

Current license as a Registered Nurse in Illinois; Advanced Practice RN license in Illinois; national certification for APRN; or current PI license in Illinois.

Privileged and credentialed through the Medical Staff Office.

Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers certification.

Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.

Controlled substance license and DEA registration required.

Preferred

Two or more years of clinical experience in the specialty area.
