Orientation and pre-start credentialing: 24 hours orientation; Healthstream modules required prior to start; Relias EKG exam within 72 hours; onsite rhythm testing
Responsibilities
Provide acute nursing care to ED patients across adult and pediatric populations, including triage, monitoring, and treatment for a broad range of emergencies; interpret telemetry and perform 12-lead EKGs as needed
Administer medications and interventions using the Omnicell medication system; document care in the EPIC electronic charting system; collaborate with Respiratory, Radiology, Pharmacy, Social Work, Phlebotomy, Transport, Interpretation services, and Unit Secretary to coordinate care
Maintain patient safety and comfort, perform rapid assessment and stabilization, and respond to escalating clinical changes per ED protocols; manage typical ED census of 4–6 patients per shift
Float within hospital as needed based on skillset and unit needs; participate in multidisciplinary rounds and communicate clearly with the care team
Adhere to unit and hospital policies, including accuracy in rhythm interpretation and timely completion of required credentialing and training
Requirements
Licenses: New York Registered Nurse license (active) required at submission; NY license in hand; Nursys verification requested
Certifications: BLS, PALS, NIHSS required at submission; EPIC charting experience; Omnicell medication system; Telemetry experience; ability to obtain/interpret 12-lead EKG/ECG
Experience: Preferred 5 years current ED experience; Travel/compliance: 2 years in the specialty referenced in travel; References required
Pre-employment and exam requirements: Healthstream RN modules to be completed prior to start; Relias EKG exam within 72 hours of signing; onsite rhythm testing with facility thresholds for accuracy
Key clinical competencies: Rhythm competency requiring the ability to read/interpret rhythms and pass a hospital proctored rhythm test; fluency with ED protocols and pediatric/adult care
Vaccinations and compliance: Flu vaccine required by 11/1; COVID-19 vaccination not required; vaccinations exemptions to be submitted for approval if applicable
Local radius restriction: Primary residence outside a 50-mile radius of the assignment location; counties within 50 miles include Warren, Washington, Fulton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Albany, Columbia, Greene, Dutchess, and Ulster
Other: References required; pre-approved time off limited to one shift/period per contract
