Laboratory Assistant – Providence Medford Medical Center
Per Diem/Variable Shift
The Asst-Lab 2 is responsible for the accurate and timely receiving, processing, and labeling of laboratory specimens, and the appropriate handling and/or disbursement of laboratory data and patient results. Support personnel work with acute-care and outpatient caregivers, vendors, consultants, and other Laboratory Services staff in performing their duty.
Required Qualifications
2 years of experience in healthcare or a related field, or a combination of applicable experience and education.
Clerical or client services experience.
Experience with State and Federal regulatory compliance, including MSP, EMTALA, ABN, and HIPAA.
Preferred Qualifications
Coursework/Training – 2 years of college, courses in biological sciences, anatomy, and medical terminology.
Associate's Degree – courses in biological sciences, anatomy, and medical terminology.
Bachelor's Degree – courses in biological sciences, anatomy, and medical terminology.
Certification from a Clinical Laboratory Assistant program or from a phlebotomy program with 1 year of related experience, or 3 years of related experience.
Certification from an approved government agency or nationally recognized professional organization (ASCP, NCA, etc.) upon hire.
Industry-related experience in a high volume, acute care setting.
2 years of experience in phlebotomy, medical assisting, research, or clinical laboratory work, or certification.
Job experience in specimen collection, preparation, equipment operation, pneumatic tube systems, and other laboratory equipment.

Pay Range
$20.00 - $30.17 (base pay). Additional compensation may be available for this role, such as shift differentials, standby/on‑call, overtime, premiums, extra shift incentives, or bonus opportunities.
