Job Summary
This job acts as a leader in the provision of patient care using the nursing process within the framework of the Nurse Practice Act, ANA Code for Nurses and Scope & Standards of Practice. It involves effective delegation, directing, and assisting licensed and ancillary team members, assuming accountability for quality patient outcomes, exhibiting sensitivity to diversity, maintaining involvement in activities aimed at achieving unit and departmental strategic goals, and supporting the company’s philosophy of nursing.

Education

Required: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.

Preferred: Bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Work Experience

Required: None.

Certifications

Required: Current registered nurse (RN) license in state of practice.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.

Preferred: Certification in clinical specialty area.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications.

Effective verbal and written communication skills and ability to present information clearly and professionally.

Strong interpersonal skills.

Good organizational and time‑management skills and ability to be self‑directed.

Ability to demonstrate good judgement.

Job Duties

Effectively uses the nursing process in the delivery of patient care.

Assesses learning needs and implements teaching strategies appropriate for the diverse needs of patients, families, and other groups or disciplines.

Communicates, delegates, and manages nursing team resources (human and fiscal) properly, serving as a leader and partner on the interdisciplinary team.

Uses data, information, and knowledge to evaluate and promote change to achieve optimal outcomes.

Embraces concepts and behaviors that enhance patient satisfaction and employee morale and improve the nursing profession.

Adapts behavior to the specific patient population, including respect for privacy, method of introduction, adapting explanations of services or procedures, requesting permissions, and communication style.

Performs other related duties as required.

Physical and Environmental Demands

Exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 25–50 pounds frequently, or 10–20 pounds constantly to move objects.

Exposure to blood, body fluid, tissue, and communicable diseases.

Exposure to hazardous medications and hazardous waste.
