Recreation and Athletics Specialist 3

Olympic Corrections Center (OCC) – Forks, Washington.
The Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated and qualified individual to lead recreational and athletic programming for incarcerated residents at Olympic Corrections Center. The role involves planning and implementing daily leisure activities, supervising participation, and managing related resources to promote wellness and personal growth.
Responsibilities
Plan and implement leisure time programs and activities for incarcerated individuals.
Supervise and evaluate participants during recreational activities.
Organize intramural sports programs, special events, and community involvement within the leisure time and wellness program.
Manage and monitor an active hobby and music program.
Process purchase orders.
Organize and maintain recreation records, forms and program documentation.
Maintain clean and orderly recreation use areas.
Control and inventory recreation equipment.
Oversee the operation of the resident library system.
Collaborate with the Washington State Library system regarding library services for the incarcerated population.
Required Qualifications
A two‑year degree majoring in recreation, therapeutic recreation, music, drama, physical education, psychology, or sociology.
One year of paid or volunteer experience managing and organizing recreational activities. Relative experience may substitute one year for one year of education.
Ability to independently plan, organize, and manage the total recreation program at OCC.
Foreign equivalent degrees awarded outside the United States must be evaluated with a credential evaluation report.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in state employment or other public service within the recreational field.
