General Function
The Optician creates exceptional value in the lives of customers by ensuring customers are always delighted, performing the key steps of our selling model, and developing the optical skills of others to create an effective learning environment.

Major Duties And Responsibilities

Conveys a commitment to providing unsurpassed Customer Service by performing the Sales and Service Process steps.

Supports problem solving and troubleshooting.

Engages patients, customers and fellow associates using our technology to enhance experiences.

Leads the location that sets the tone for customer service and serves as a center of excellence.

Anticipates problems before they occur; explores underlying reasons for recurring customer problems; seeks long‑term solutions.

Shows patience and courtesy with customers; tracks down answers to unfamiliar questions or products.

Assists co‑workers with questions or problems and cooperates readily in group efforts.

Acts as a leader in optical acumen, providing a voice for associates through expertise.

Educates the customer on guarantees and services including eyewear care tips, complimentary adjustments and follow‑up services.

Takes and records measurements, adjusts or fits eyewear carefully and correctly, and ensures details are thorough.

Ensures finished eyewear meets optical standards and customer requirements/requests.

Strives to achieve exceptional results that align with brand priorities.

Takes personal ownership to achieve personal and store results.

Serves as a role model for development and a technical resource for all.

Operates the Point of Sale terminal, inputting customer and prescription information accurately.

Handles payment collection following company security procedures and retains proper change for various transactions.

Shows customers where to pick‑up their glasses upon return to the store.

Maintains pride in the appearance of the store and ensures visual displays match planograms.

Maintains a safe working environment for all associates/customers and informs management of potential safety hazards.

Demonstrates safe work practices, including wearing personal protective equipment in the lab.

Basic Qualifications

State licensure (if applicable) and/or ABO Certification in non‑licensed states.

High School Diploma or equivalent.

Knowledge of current optical theory and merchandise.

Knowledge of current store merchandise assortment and use of inventory management systems.

Strong communicator and listener.

Awareness of current fashion trends.

Sales skills – ability to use and carry an iPad/tablet.

Comfortable with technology to engage patients, customers and associates.

Preferred Qualifications

Actively studying for Certification.

Optical dispensing experience.

Previous customer service and retail experience.

Compensation & Benefits
Pay Range: $20.85 – $32.51 per hour. Employee pay is determined by geography, experience, qualifications, skills and local minimum wage requirements. A competitive bonus and/or commission plan may be offered, complementing a first‑class total rewards package that includes health care, retirement savings, paid time off/vacation and various employee discounts.
