Responsibilities and Specific Duties
Evidence of a "safety first" attitude
One (1) year progressive heavy equipment maintenance preferred
Two (2) years technical degree or equivalent experience preferred
Must have computer skills for the ability to repair sub-components of all types of buses
Must have the ability to understand and follow schematics
Intermediate level computer skills (including Microsoft applications)
Customer-focused attitude, with high level of professionalism and discretion
Ability to maintain strict confidentiality, establish trust and credibility, and act with complete integrity
Detail-oriented, resourceful, diligent and able to operate independently with limited supervision (completing assigned work accurately and in a timely manner)
Able to work in a team environment, cohesively to ensure vehicle safety
Strong time management and organizational skills
Sound judgement; Good problem-solving and analytical skills (troubleshoot technical issues, communicate and document solutions to non-technical parties)
Excellent communication skills
Must be flexible and work in a 24/7 environment
Additional training from mechanical/technical schools, courses or seminars desirable
Must have the ability to learn the design, maintenance, and adjustments of ADA equipment, air conditioning, brakes, chassis, cooling system, engine, interior/exterior lighting, gauges and controls, safety equipment, fire suppression system and sensitive edges, tires and transmissions
Use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, pressure gauges, precision instruments, HVAC recovery equipment, as well as power tools such as pneumatic wrenches and hydraulic presses in addition to computer programs such as Cummins Insite and Allison DOC
Maintains and creates records and work history within electronic repair orders
Inspect / diagnose / repair / replace brake systems, fuel and emission systems, drivelines, steering and suspension systems, passenger heating/cooling systems, etc. to ensure that they are in proper operating condition with guidance
Use of in-ground and above-ground hoists as well as portable hoists and hydraulic jacks to raise equipment for inspection and repair
Perform routine preventative maintenance inspections and procedures such as changing oil and filters, lubricating steering, suspension and brake components, battery maintenance, compressed natural gas tank inspections
Test drive/operate light duty vehicles, trucks, buses and support equipment to diagnose malfunctions or to ensure that they are working properly
Inspect, adjust, repair and replace protective guards, loose components, and specified safety devices
Vehicle chassis alignments
Replace, repair, and perform routine maintenance on internal combustion engines to include gasoline, diesel, and alternative fuel in addition to transmissions and differential units
Repair and adjust seats, doors, and windows, interior and exterior trim and hardware. Install, diagnose and repair/replace vehicle accessories
Emission related diagnosis and repairs
Minor fabrication, welding, grinding, soldering, etc.
Performs service calls on vehicles and equipment
Performs related duties as assigned

Certificates & Licenses All positions require a valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) class B with Passenger endorsement. See experience and qualifications for necessary licenses and certifications
Other Requirements: Must provide own hand tools as necessary to perform the assigned work
Must pass Department of Transportation (DOT) pre-employment physical and drug screening
No criminal convictions or DWI, DUI, assault, or possession of controlled substances within the last 5 years. Must be able to complete and pass pre-employment performance evaluation. Department of Transportation (DOT) physical, drug and alcohol screen and background investigation and pre-employment assessments and tests
Must be flexible. Position may require night, weekend and holiday hours
