Job Summary
Reporting to the Trades Manager, the Plumber B safely performs tasks of moderate complexity within the plumbing trades specialty, water & waste distribution system, gas distribution, and the specialized areas of swimming pool and fountain operation and maintenance. This position is represented for purposes of collective bargaining by Teamsters.
Job Duties
45% – Uses hand tools, power hand tools and specialized power tools to perform maintenance, repair and installation of plumbing trades including water, waste and gas distribution.
40% – Troubleshoots and analyzes problems of moderate to high complexity; clears lines of debris; changes bathroom fixtures, kitchen appliances, valves, hot water tanks, gas line connections; installs new piping in copper, black pipe or PVC; performs basic duties in swimming pool and fountain operation and maintenance.
10% – Assists senior plumber with complex tasks such as backflow prevention devices and gas meter connection; works with other trades on complicated repairs or system replacements.
5% – Prepares work orders and purchase order requests; maintains routine maintenance logs; documents activities in the department work order system; tracks labor, materials and supplies.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED.
Plumbing trade certificate(s) of training.
Four years of experience in the plumbing trades.
Extensive experience cleaning, repairing and servicing all types of interior and exterior drains.
Experience freezing pipe 3/8"–3".
Knowledge of commercial lavatories and fixtures.
Ability to read blueprints for the trade.
Ability to size and estimate plumbing systems; braze; work with fuse seal pipe and fittings; solder copper pipe 1/4"–3".
Skill with hand, power and specialized power tools.
Proficiency with Google/Microsoft Office applications.
Detail‑oriented, efficient, and accurate in task execution.

Compensation
The starting base hourly rate for this position is $32.94/hr. After 6 months, the base hourly rate increases to $33.40/hr, and after 12 months, the base hourly rate increases to $33.98/hr.
