Responsibilities

Oversee delivery of patient care through the nursing process (assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, evaluation) in a Family Medicine Clinic within a hospital setting.

Direct and coordinate nursing care for patients based on standards, with supervision of unit staff and some managerial responsibilities in collaboration with the Director.

Collaborate with other RN Charge staff to drive clinic best practices and coordinate patient and process flows across the clinic.

Work with other health professionals to provide quality, cost-effective, and efficient care, serving as a resource person when needed.

Apply age-specific considerations and cultural diversity in patient care, supporting a full age range from birth through elderly.

Maintain competencies and ensure compliance with applicable nursing practice standards and regulations; participate in ongoing professional development as required for this position.

Assist with care coordination across the continuum, including patient and family education and effective documentation.

Coordinate with staff such as unit secretaries, PCTs, CMAs, LPNs, and RNs in collaboration with the Director; participate in staff resourcing and workflow optimization.

Requirements

Current Alaska license in good standing as a Registered Professional Nurse.

BSN preferred; minimum education: completed nursing program from an NLN-approved institution.

Minimum 4 years of charge experience in a clinic or urgent care facility.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Ability to practice nursing in accordance with Alaska statutes for Registered Nursing; strong knowledge of medical terminology and the nursing process.

Proficiency in documenting care, communicating effectively, and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.

Flexible with work schedule; able to work in a clinic/hospital setting and manage independent actions within prescribed limits.

The successful candidate will be required to pass and maintain competencies for this position.

Travel requirements may include proof of completed COVID-19 vaccination.
