Summary
This position serves as Supply Technician for the Property Management Division within Lifecycle Management of the Logistics Service and supported catchment area. As a Supply Technician, you will provide service lines and other hospital facilities with equipment and material at the Malcolm Randall Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center.

Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement – 04/28/2026. Time‑In‑Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time‑in‑grade requirements by the closing date. For a GS‑05 position, you must have served 52 weeks at the GS‑04. An SF‑50 that shows your time‑in‑grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF‑50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one‑year time‑in‑grade – as required by the announcement. In this instance – you must provide an additional SF‑50 that clearly demonstrates one‑year time‑in‑grade. Note: Time‑In‑Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:

Specialized Experience : You must have one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS‑4 level in the Federal service that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position – and that is typically in or related to the work of this Supply Technician position. Specialized experience includes providing equipment and material to clinical and administrative areas of a health care facility; scanning, bar‑coding, receiving, storing, and distributing equipment and related material; utilizing an automated system to maintain equipment records; and answering customer questions regarding non‑expandable equipment and materials.
Education : Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have successfully completed 4 years of education above high school in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business‑secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
Combination : Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond high school education as described above that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience – including volunteer work through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35–40 hours of work per week. Part‑time experience will be credited on the basis of actual hours. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature and hours of each position.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment
The work requires standing and walking during the entire workday, frequent reaching, bending, and lifting of supply packages (occasionally weighing as much as 50 pounds). With proper assistance, employees can move heavier items weighing over 40 pounds. This level of physical demands occurs, for example, when employees are regularly assigned to activities such as tracing misplaced items, conducting physical inventories in warehouses, and stocking and retrieving items from shelves and cabinets. Duties

Reviews existing stock and manufacturers' catalogs, manuals and listings to obtain substitute or interchangeable items to supply in lieu of items requisitioned.

Communicates with customers and vendors to obtain information regarding availability and functionality of non‑expandable equipment and supplies.

Provides guidance to customers on identification of material through research of original equipment manufacturers part catalog for part numbers, descriptions, and size of parts needed.

Processes applicable catalog update transactions in accordance with current published procedures.

Periodically reviews assigned manufacturers code and part numbers for continued validity and takes necessary action to update, delete, or dispose of in accordance with published guidelines.

Interacts with clinical and administrative customers to ensure issues and needs are identified and either resolved or escalated to supervisors or Inventory Management Specialists as needed.

Communicates to the lead or supervisor any concerns related to supplies, equipment, and procedures, providing information as needed orally or in writing regarding customer or external stakeholder issues, general telephone inquiries, and visitor referrals.

Coordinates drop‑off of new or transferred equipment and pick‑up of turn‑in equipment.

Scans, picks up, and drops off for annual Electronic Inventory Listing (EIL) inventory.

Delivers equipment in a timely and accurate manner – ensuring equipment and material delivered are in operational condition.

Processes receipt and turn‑in transaction to record in the equipment system of record and account for incoming materiel.

As needed, assists in other functional areas of the Section and performs other duties as assigned.

Driver's License: A current valid state‑issued Driver's License is required for this position. NOTE: We cannot accept photographs; therefore please do not submit a copy of your license with your application package.

Work Schedule: Monday–Friday – 8:00 am–4:30 pm. In addition to the assigned tour of duty, an assigned rotation for On‑Call and Disaster Schedule for Essential Personnel may be required to meet minimum staffing requirements and service needs.
